Telegram & Messaging Channels

TL;DR

Telegram's built-in business features — opening hours, quick replies, greeting and away messages — layered on a normal account.

Key Points

It is a feature set on a personal account, not a separate account type you register [1].

Opening hours and a location publish when you are reachable, similar to [[business-hours]] in a help desk.

Quick replies are Telegram's native [[canned-response]]: saved answers inserted with a shortcut.

Greeting messages fire for new chats and away messages cover time outside opening hours, like an [[autoresponder]].

Connected bots can read and reply to the account's chats, enabling automation on top of a human account [1].

It handles people who message you on Telegram — it does not put chat on your website, which needs a [[live-chat-widget]].

What it includes

Telegram Business is a bundle of features that turns an ordinary Telegram account into something a small company can operate from [1]. You can publish opening hours and a location so customers know when you answer. You can save quick replies — canned answers with images and files attached — and insert them with a shortcut, which is Telegram's version of a Canned Response. You can set a greeting message that fires when someone writes for the first time, and an away message that covers nights and weekends, together behaving much like an Autoresponder tied to Business Hours. Chats can be organised with tags and folders, giving a light version of the Conversation Tag idea. None of this requires a separate registration: it is switched on within the account you already have.

Connected bots and automation

The most consequential piece for developers is connected bots. A Telegram Business account can grant a bot permission to read and send messages in its chats, which means automation can sit on top of a human account rather than replacing it [1]. In practice that allows a Chatbot to draft or send replies, a CRM to log conversations, or an AI assistant to triage incoming questions before a person answers. It is the bridge between Telegram's consumer messaging and real Business Messaging tooling, and it is what makes the business features interesting beyond the surface-level conveniences of hours and quick replies.

What it does not solve

Telegram Business improves conversations that already reached Telegram. It does nothing for the visitor sitting on your website who has a question right now, because that person is not in Telegram and most of them will not switch apps to ask. Closing that gap needs a Live Chat Widget on the page and a Telegram Bot to forward what visitors type — the arrangement described in Telegram Integration. The two are complements rather than alternatives: the business features shape how you handle chats inside Telegram, and the widget determines whether the conversation happens at all. A business relying only on the former is capturing just the customers who already had its Telegram handle.

Telegram Bot

A Telegram bot is an automated account inside Telegram, run by software rather than a person, that can send and receive messages through the Telegram Bot API. Businesses use bots to deliver website chat messages, notifications, and support conversations into Telegram, where they can be answered from a phone.

Telegram Customer Support

Telegram customer support is the practice of handling customer questions through Telegram instead of a traditional help desk — either by talking to customers in Telegram directly, or by routing website chat into Telegram so the business can reply from the app it already uses.

Telegram Integration

Telegram Integration is the mechanism by which Eloqra routes every website chat into the project owner's Telegram, forwarding visitor messages to a Telegram bot and flowing operator replies back to the widget. It turns Telegram into the operator inbox, so there is no separate agent console you are required to keep open.

Business Hours

Business hours are the configured windows of days and times during which a support team is staffed and expected to answer live conversations. They let a chat tool switch between a live, real-time experience and an after-hours fallback so customers always know whether someone is available.

Canned Response

A canned response is a pre-written, reusable reply that a support agent selects and sends to answer a common customer question quickly and consistently [3]. Different vendors call the same idea a saved reply, a macro, or a template, and some versions also trigger actions like tagging or closing a conversation [1][4].

Autoresponder

An autoresponder is a rule that automatically sends a predefined message the moment a customer triggers it, such as starting a chat or messaging outside business hours. In support, it acknowledges receipt of an inquiry and sets expectations before a human operator replies.
